Ray Lahood: Sleeping in Seattle

Hello, everybody...Safety is our top priority...
Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood was on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace to talk about all the snoozing air traffic controllers. Chris Wallace specifically asked him about the air traffic controller who was caught "napping" twice. OF course, because he is in a union he hasn.t been fired until "all the investigations have been conducted".
Mr. Lahood assured everybody that the powers to be are running around the country instructing all the controllers to get more rest and that it is against policy to fall asleep while in the job. "Safety is our main concern."
WIth all due respect, how many investigations do you need when someone falls asleep TWICE? This employee should have been suspended without pay at least two weeks the first time he fell asleep , and fired immeditately the second time he conked out on the job.
Swift action would have gotten all the air traffic controllers attention. I'm sure 99% of the air traffic controllers are on the ball. Why is it no one ever gets fired for cause in a government job? Do they all have tenure?
