8.8% Unemployment and $3.58 Gas: Which # is Accurate?
The unemployment rate "dropped" to 8.8% yesterday as the economy supposedly added 210,000 jobs last month. The president took a few bows and said that jobs was his number one priority. At this rate of monthly job creation, the unemployment rate will eventually drop to 5 % around the year 2018.
This "official" unemployment rate is about as believable as the government's official inflation rate. The rate does not include the people who have given up hope and left the job market. Nor does it include the people who are underemployed or part-timers who would prefer full time work. The real unemployment rate is probably well over 10%.
The economy continues to stumble along in spite of all the speeches the president has given. 25% of homes are underwater, Gasoline and heating oil are going through the roof. Food costs are skyrocketing while wages stagnate. Welcome to the real world of STAGFLATION.
There is one number the people CAN believe - $3.58 a gallon gas. When Obama took over the throne, the average price of gasoline was $1.79 a gallon. The price has now doubled thanks to his energy non-policy.
The fictitious 8.8% unemployment rate means nothing to the employed or the people who cannot find a job. We can all relate to $3.58 gallon gas because we have to open our wallets every time we fill up at the pump.
If this is progress, Mr. President, keep your change.

The emperor is out of touch with reality.
