Egypt, $4.00 Gas and Green Energy

The Egyptian protestors may get their wish, as Hose Me (and You) Mubarak will probably step down, leave the country, and fly to Switzerland to withdraw a few billion dollars from his U.S. taxpayer-funded 401 K account. Meanwhile, the crisis has once again, for the 1,000th time, reminded us of our over- reliance on foreign oil from countries that clearly hate us (but love our money).

I recently went to the gas station to fill up my gas-guzzling ten year old SUV. I had a $50 bill in my pocket and figured it would just about fill it up at $3.29 for regular gas. When I got there, there was a sign, "sorry no inleaded regular". SInce the closest gas station was a few miles away, I put 93 in the tank for 40 cents more per gallon. I stopped it at $30.00 and got half the tank filled. If $3.69 gas just fills up half a tank, imagine what $4.00 gas will do to the wallet.

Meanwhile, the blowhards in Washington, from Obama to the EPA and the useless Energy Department, are against all kinds of drilling. SInce 1973, when Jimmy Carter told us to put on a sweater, our energy non- policy has seen us shrink production from 10 million barrels a day to 6 million barrels a day. And if Obama and the greenies get their way, we are headed to 5 million barrels of oil production a day.

Putting a windmill on the top of my oil burner or SUV will not help my pocketbook. We are headed for $4.00 + per gallon gasoline and heating oil., Meanwhile, the administration talks about bullitt trains, bio-fuels, windmills, and electric cars...all futuristic boondoggles that need massive government subsidies.

$4.00 gas and  no energy policy. Not much hope and little change. Drill, baby, dril.

Whatever happened to drilling for our own oil?

As I was filling the tank in my 4cyl, Japanese made,2005 Camry (All i have ever done is change the oil in this baby and my mechanic tells me it will last 200k miles or more)in lovely Arizona (it was 82 degrees yesterday), i was filling up at a mediocre $3.15/gallon.....while i was waiting for the handle to pop, the attendant was changing the sign to 3.23/gallon....not good. Meanwhile, more SUVs and 8 cylinder cars pulled up....but not one hybrid or Nissan Leaf...hmmm....Mr Obama, its time to get a clue.
