SSA to Grandma and Grandpa: Drop Dead

The Social Security Administration will announce shortly that there will be no COLA for the second consecutive year for Grandma and Grandpa. It appears that the cost of living has not gone up for them the past two years. Are these bureaucratic number crunchers dealing with reality?

The cost of living has not gone up the past two years? Most seniors biggest expenses are shelter, food, energy (gasoline and heating), and medicine. Has anyone been to the gas station lately or seen their home heating bills skyrocket? How about the price of food? Has anyone noticed the incredible SHRINKING packaging game the food giants continue to try to pull over on us? Instead of increasing prices they shrink the size of the cans or boxes. Try buying a half gallon of orange juice - instead of 64 ounces, the carton is now 59 ounces -- same price for 8 % less!

Are these bureaucrats the same people who calculate the number of jobs that Obama has "saved and created"? Do they also work for the CBO, the same rocket scientists who tried to convince us that Obamanable-Care would save us money?

While the SSA continues to screw Grandma and Grandpa, Obama gives the overpaid federal workers an increase in pay and the Congress always gets a pay increase for a job poorly done. Meanwhile, the Fed keeps interest rates near zero so interest income for seniors is non-existent for bank CD's.

The Blowhards in Washington screw the seniors two ways -- no COLA for their SS and no interest income on their CD's. I am not advocating that seniors should always get a cost of living increase. I am merely suggesting that seniors should be treated fairly, using real cost of living statistics. And if they don't get a COLA, then neither should Congress or the federal workers.

Grandpa and Grandma can always raid the piggy bank.
