Memorial Day: Thank you

Today is Memorial Day. This is the day we honor the millions of brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. God Bless Them All! And a special thanks to my Dad and his best buddy and dear friend Bud, who are now deceased. They both served with honor in WW II. And a salute to my brother Lou who served in the Navy and my two best friends, Hobie and Billy "Bellows" for serving in Vietnam.
And to all the brave men and women who are in the armed services today, including my nephew Stephen - THANK YOU for having the courage to enlist and defend us in these very dangerous times.
Memorial Day takes on more meaning as you get older. I was around as a young kid when the Korean War was being fought, followed by the Vietnam War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not sure the Cold War ever ended and now we have a War on Terror, regardless what the liberals might want to call it.
The memory and pride about our fighting in World War II was still a big deal in the 1950's and I remember celebrating VETERANS' DAY by going to the annual parade in our town. Everybody was there, lining the streets as the veterans walked by saluting the flag. We were all proud to be Americans back then. Times have changed and I am afraid that the younger generation does not appreciate the price so many of our brave service men and women have paid fighting to defend our way of life.
Jim & Linda Dandy Salute You All with a 21 gun salute!

AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
