Memo to Carl Levin: Goldman Made Billions and YOU Waste Trillions

Senator Eyeglass Levin is holding a Washington Witch Trial on Capitol Hill today. He and his fellow blowhards are castigating the Evil Goldman Sachs employees for making money in the sub-prime market that the Federal government (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Community Reinvestment Act)  fostered. Nowhere to be seen on the dais were Senator Dodd, Congressman Barney "fundamentally sound" Frank, or members of Fannie or Freddie. And where was the cheap money king, former Chairman Greenspan, today?

Meanwhile, while Obama and the Chi-Cons try to get financial "reform" through Congress, his Senatorial Stooges stage this TV show trial. Where is the investigation and charges against the folks at WAMU, Fannie, Freddie, the SEC, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and all their CRA buddies?

WIth the aid of 20/20 hindsight, Levin poured over e-mails and grilled many of the GS underlings about their "shitty" deals. At one point he bellowed: "YOU MADE BILLIONS".  What he should have said: "The Government Shredded Trillions While Goldman Saks Made Billions By Taking Advantage of the Greed in the Marketplace."

I am not defending the people at Goldman Sachs. I think many of them play "fast and loose" with the rules, but there is plenty of blame to go around here. Claire McCaskill make a fool of herself while grilling one of the GS employees. She never lets the facts get in the way to make a stupid political point.

Wow, the SEC went after a VP at Goldman Sachs. That reminds me of the bank I used to work at. It had strict "teller standards" for differences and bad checks cashed but no standards for commercial lenders making lousy loans. So while we fired the peon tellers for having $500 differences, no big shot got canned for making lousy $2 million commercial loans.

I am looking forward to the day when Levin and his crowd yank the clowns from the SEC before his committee to watch the porn videos that these losers had plenty of time to view instead of catching Bernie Madoff and Bernard Sanford. Maybe they should be watching the porn site: www.bendoverthetaxpayer.com instead.
