GM and UAW: Turn Off The Headlights
The UAW and GM are still negotiating as the deadling nears for them to come to the Beltway seeking a few billion more.
GM has a brilliant business plan: borrow billions from the federal government at 8% interest, while selling its cars over 5 years at 0% interest. All this in an economy where the public isn't in the mood to buy cars.
The 50 year party at GM is over. The UAW and GM remind me of the drunk who is going to his first AA meeting, but his first stop on the way to the meeting is to the package store to buy some courage.
The UAW is worried about who is going to pay its members' gold-plated health benefits package over the next several years. As long as the taxpayers don't fund it, they can fight over it forever.
The UAW could try to get healthcare insurance the way most Americans have to when they lose their jobs:
COBRA
I'm sure they are holding out for the liberal Beltway Blowhards to bail them out again while screwing the American taxpayer.

I haven't bought a GM car in years. Screw both GM and the unions.
