Breaking News: A-Rod Admits to Taking Performing Enhancing Drugs - What A Lib Would Say
Just a few moments ago, Alex Rodriguez, arguably the greatest baseball player of our generation, admitted to using performance enhancing drugs while a Texas Ranger from 2001 - 2003.Whether or not he is telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth at least he is confronting the issue rather than taking the Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens route of denial in the face of overwhelming evidence. There will be a media frenzy for the next several weeks over this story. Perhaps some of the Beltway Blowhards in the House and Senate can get involved in some more idiotic steroid "show" trials. If they do, there will be less time to spend on more moronic stimulus packages.
There are several ways a LIBERAL could have handled this dilemma. Here are some quotes a lib could use at a press conference:
> "It depends on what the definition of "performance enhancing drugs" is"
> "If I am appointed to an Obama cabinet position, I will confess right before the Senate confirmation hearing. I will bring my checkbook because I probably owe some back taxes too."
> "Taking steroids is a disease, like alcoholism or drug abuse. I am going into the Jose' Canseco Roid Abuse Clinic."
> "All the other baseball MVP's have taken steroids, what's the problem?"
> "Pete Rose, the all-time hit king, and Barry Bonds the all-time home run king, won't get into the Hall of Fame any time soon, so why shouldn't I be in their company?
> "I can always go into the Steroid Hall of Fame."
> "I am a victim of the times. The pressure on me to cheat was enormous. Everybody else was breaking the rules so I thought what's the big deal?"
> " I promise not to wag my finger at you like Bill Clinton or Rafael Palmiero did."
