The 2008 Beltway Blowhard of the Year Award

2008 was a great year if  you enjoy watching the circus in Washington. It is almost as much fun as watching the Cartoon Network. Spongebob Squarepants could easily be a Senator. If you are a taxpayer or a concerned citizen worried about the direction that America is headed then this daily circus is not so funny.

Who was the Biggest Beltway Blowhard of 2008?

The 10 nominees are:

Hank "Panic" Paulson: He gets a nomination for his complete lack of rhetorical skills. When the economy was in crisis, he would give a speech telling everyone the sky was falling down, and the Dow would drop 100+ points while he spoke. He might know his "stuff", but he inspired little confidence while at the podium. He is just another one of those overrated Goldman Sachs geniuses.

Barney Blather Frank: As chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committe that oversees Fannie and Freddie Mac, his complete lack of oversight, despite the many warning signs, helped pour gasoline on the sub prime crisis.

His July 14,2008 comment about Fannie and Freddie shows how stupid he was:  "Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound...I think they are in good shape going forward". Two months later Fannie and Freddie needed a mulit-billion dollar bailout.

The recent 60 Minutes puff by Leslie Stahl  piece about Frank was embarrassing--Mr. Frank is a buffoon with too much power. The sight of him waddling down the halls of Congress with his shoes untied because he was "too busy" to tie them was laughable. Leslie Stahl should be ashamed of herself for this biased reporting.

Christopher Dodd, the Senator for Life from Connecticut, aka the Connecticut Coxcomb.  As chairman of the powerful Senate Banking Committee, he was too busy getting himself a sweetheart mortgage from Countrywide to worry about the mortgage meltdown. His pathetic quadrennial run for the President of the United States was laughable. The man is clueless about his importance to America.

Nancy Pelosi - As Speaker of the House, she is two heartbeats away from the Presidency - a very scary thought.  She represents the lunatic fringe in San Francisco. She is totally out of touch with the American people. She opposes drilling for oil in America and loves to tax anything that moves.

Harry Reid - The Senate Majority Leader from Nevada - "Mr Sunshine". Is there a more gloomy, pessimistic person in America?
He is always on the wrong side of the major issues in America. He is a YouTube favorite with his "The War Is Lost" and "Coal is Dirty" rants. What an embarrassment to the Senate.

John McCain - A great American, but he ran a TERRIBLE Presidential campaign. If it weren't for Sarah Palin, 10 million Republicans would have stayed home on election day. The last couple of weeks of the campaign you would have thought Joe the Plumber was his running mate! We all got tired of this mavierick and his earmark rants.

Joe Biden - Mr. "Bitter, he is just as negative as Harry Reid. He is always angry about something. Things got so bad on the campaign trail that the Obama camp had to put him into solitary confinement for periods of time. It should be fun watching his many VP "gaffes".
Who can forget his famous blunder when he said the campaign was about a three letter word. JOBS, J O B S ! You can't make this stuff up!

Robert Byrd - Senator from West Virginia. The King of Pork and the biggest pontificator in the Senate. It is time this "Byrd Brain" flew back home and retired.

Christopher Cox - as chairman of the SEC, he allowed hedge funds to run wild and exotic leveraged investments to be pawned off on the public. And the icing on the cake was the alleged $50 billion Madoff Ponzi scheme For many years there were many warning signs about this scheme, yet the SEC, under his watch BLEW IT.

President Bush - His lack of eloquence helped fuel the fiscal crisis. Unfortunately, this man cannot put two coherent sentences together. Watching him and Hank "Panic" Paulson talk about the fiscal crisis was like watching an Abbott and Costello comic routine, except it wasn't funny, just pathetic.

The envelope please. And the winner is: we have a tie!

Barney Blather Frank and the Connecticut Coxcomb, Chris Dodd

These two blowhards must share the 2008 Beltway Blowhard of the Year Award because while the U.S. burned with the sub prime meltdown, these two losers did NOTHING except blame everybody else.  They should both be stripped of their committee chairmanships. They have some nerve lecturing the CEO's of the auto companies when they can't manage their own committees. They are the typical liberal loser politicians who, when confronted with the evidence of their pathetic performance as chairman of their respective committees, simply bloviate about something else or blame everything on Bush. These two jerks were part of the problem. Don't expect them to be part of ANY solution!

Congratulations to Barney Blather Frank and Christopher Coxcomb Dodd
