The Wall of GALL: First Nominee - The CT Coxcomb, Chris Dodd

The Wall of GALL
is a new category in Beltway Blowhards. To get on this wall the Blowhard must display a brazen boldness coupled with contemptuous disregard of others. In other words, the Potomac Pontificator must say or do something outrageous with a straight face that completely belies his own actions while not getting challenged by the fawning media.

Once again, Senator Chris Dodd, aka the Connecticut Coxcomb, on CBS Sunday's Face the Nation had the gall to suggest that GM CEO, Richard Wagoner should "move on" as a condition for federal aid. He did not suggest the same for Mr. Gettelfinger, the President of the U.A.W. One can only wonder how much the U.A.W. donates to Mr. Dodd's campaigns.

The issue here is not  whether Mr. Wagoner is competent or not. He probably should resign as CEO of GM. The issue is that Mr. Dodd's current Holier than Thou approach to the financial crisis is an absolute joke when compared to his pathetic (lack of) oversight of Fannie and Freddie.  Mr. Dodd is the SAME Senator, who, as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, did NOTHING to stop the meltdown at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He DID, however, manage to get a sweet sub-prime "VIP" mortgage deal from Countrywide while Fannie and Freddie burned.

He has been a U.S. Senator since 1981 and he clearly has lost his way. Of course, he will probably run again for re-election in 2010 and again for President in 2012 in his never ending quest for that single Democratic Presidential delegate.

Connecticut and the U.S. taxpayers deserve better leadership than this Beltway Blowhard has shown.

It is time for Mr. Dodd to MOVE ON ! To twist his own words about Mr. Wagoner: "I think it is time to consider new leadership" of the Senate Banking Committee.
